Men's Hockey Falls to RIT 3-0

(Bridgeport, CT) – The Sacred Heart Men's hockey team lost 3-0 Sunday afternoon to the RIT Tigers at Webster Bank Arena.

The Tigers scored a goal in each period.  Adam Mitchell opened the scoring at 2:32 on the power play, set up by Brad McGowan and Trevor Eckenswiller.  Mike Colaveccia made it 2-0 RIT 30 seconds into the second with a left-wing wrist shot under the cross bar on a rush started by Haltigan.  Jeff Smith scored the Tigers' final goal on a shorthanded breakaway at 2:38 of the third.

Andrew Bodnarchuk (Saskatoon, SK) made 22 saves for SHU, but Shane Madolora stopped all 21 Pioneer shots for his second straight shutout. 

The Pioneers return to the ice next weekend for two games at Canisius, beginning Saturday, January 21 at 3:05 pm.
