Setting the Scene... Sacred Heart travels to New Haven to take on the defending national champions Yale at Ingalls Rink. The Bulldogs are the second team from the 2013 Frozen Four the Pioneers will play this season.
Last Time Out... The Pioneers led Army 2-0 10:16 into Tuesday night's game at Webster Bank Arena, but two Black Knights power play goals in the second period led to a 6-2 Army win. Justin Danforth and Brian Sheehan notched the Sacred Heart goals as Alex Vazzano made 31 saves.
All-Time vs. Yale... The Bulldogs lead the overall series 2-1. The winning team in each of the three games has scored at least five goals.
Last Meeting vs. Yale... Chad Filteau scored with 4:14 to play in the third to vault Sacred Heart past a ranked Yale team 7-6 at Webster Bank Arena on Nov. 22, 2011. The game featured five ties and four lead changes. Filteau had two goals in the game as Anthony Yelovich had a goal and two assists. Kenny Agostino had a goal and two assists for Yale. Steven Legatto made 47 saves for the Pioneers.
The Last Time Sacred Heart Played A Top-10 Team... Sacred Heart plays its fourth game against a ranked opponent this season on Saturday night at #9/9 Yale. The Pioneers opened the season at then-#1 UMass Lowell and defeated the River Hawks 2-1. Sacred Heart has also lost to now-#13/16 Rensselaer. The Bulldogs are the second team from the 2013 Frozen Four Sacred Heart is playing this season. The Pioneers could face Quinnipiac at the UConn Hockey Classic in late December.
Evan Jasper On Four-Game Point Streak... Freshman forward Evan Jasper extended his point-scoring streak to four games on Tuesday with an assist on Sacred Heart's first goal against Army. After being held without a point in the first five games this season, Jasper recorded his first two career points on a goal and an assist on Nov. 1 at Holy Cross. He has since had an assist in each of the last three games.
Sheehan Heating Up... Sacred Heart's top returning scorer from a season ago, junior forward Brian Sheehan has recorded a point in four of Scouting the Bulldogs... Yale enters Saturday's game 3-1-2 after taking three points last weekend in ECAC play. The Bulldogs won at Princeton on Nov. 8 5-2 before skating to a 3-3 tie at Quinnipiac a night later. Since losing to Brown 4-1 in their season opener, the Bulldogs are 3-0-2 and have scored at least three goals in each of those games. Junior forward Anthony Day leads Yale with three goals and is tied for the team lead with six points. the last five games. Sheehan scored a power play goal against Army Tuesday night, while recording an assist at both Penn State and UConn. The junior has four points on the year with two power play goals and two assists.
