FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart men's hockey forwards Drew George (Regina, Sask.) and Spencer Graboski (Quesnel, B.C.) have been named the Travel Team USA Player and Rookie of the Week by Atlantic Hockey, the conference announced on Tuesday. The duo had a combined nine points as the Pioneers swept Bentley to move into ninth place in the league.
George earned his first Player of the Week honor of his career after posting a team-high five points this weekend. He had two goals and an assist last Friday night as the Pioneers beat the Falcons 5-4 at Milford Ice Pavilion. George capped off the weekend with a career-high two assists in the 5-2 win at Bentley on Saturday. He is the first Sacred Heart player to reach double-digit goals this season with 10. In his last four games, the junior has four goals and five assists.
Graboski was named Rookie of the Week after scoring two goals with two assists in this weekend's sweep of second-place Bentley. He had the game-tying goal late in the third period of Friday night's 5-4 win, then had a goal and two assists for a career-high three points in the win at Bentley on Saturday. Graboski has scored a goal in each of his last three games, and has eight points in the last four games.
Sacred Heart wraps up the regular season with a pair of games against UConn at Milford Ice Pavilion this weekend. The Pioneers and Huskies open the series on Friday, Feb. 28 at 7:05 p.m. The two teams then play on Saturday, March 1 at 5:05 p.m. for Senior Day.
