FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Juniors Liam Clare and Brett Magnus earned Travel Team USA Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player and Goalie of the Week after the Pioneers earned the weekend sweep over Niagara.

Clare earned his second weekly honor of the season as he led the Pioneers with four assists and a plus-five rating in the first weekend series sweep for the team since February 19-20, 2016 at Canisius. The co-captain registered his second career playmaker assisting on the Pioneers first three scores in the 7-1 win over the Purple Eagles on Friday night.

He followed up Friday's performance with his fourth assist of the weekend in the opening period of Saturday's 5-3 win over the Purple Eagles. Clare finished the weekend with a team-high plus-five rating and added two blocked shots on defense. 

Magnus picked up his third weekly honor between the pipes for SHU as he earned both wins He recorded both wins and a .927 save percentage to go along with 2.00 goals against average. The Montreal native has won his last four starts on the road. 

He opened the series Friday night stopping 18 of the 19 Niagara shots on goal on Friday night and then turned away 33 saves on Saturday for his ninth win of the season.

The Pioneers square off against Air Force this afternoon with a 12:05 p.m. start from Quinnipiac.
