Freshman Eric Delong (Oakville, MB) of the men's ice hockey team has been named the AHA rookie of the month for February, announced by the league office earlier today. Delong posted four goals and six assists for 10 total points in the month as the Pioneers went 5-3-0 in February.
Delong leads all Atlantic Hockey rookies and ranks sixth in the NCAA with 30 points in 2009-10. He compiled three consecutive multi-point games (2 vs. Holy Cross, 1 at Air Force). Delong also scored two goals in the third period, including the game winner, in a 3-1 victory over Holy Cross on SHU’s senior night. He averaged 1.25 points per game in February and 3.88 shots per contest.
The Pioneers and Eric Delong return to action March 12th as they host the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic Hockey tournament against an opponent to be determined.
