Sacred Heart alum Tim Katz (Freehold, NJ), a fifth-round pick by the Long Island Lizards in the 2010 Major League Lacrosse draft, was recently featured by NLLInsider.com in their Futures Report blog. Katz was the second Pioneer in program history to be a draft pick by a MLL franchise.

In his final season for the Pioneers, Katz led the Red & White with 32 goals and 15 assists for 47 total points. He was named a USILA Scholar All-American as well as a NEILA Scholar Athlete. Katz also represented SHU in the NEILA East/West All-Star Game and the North/South USILA All-Star Game, which he scored two goals in and collected an assist.
Katz led the Pioneers in scoring each of the last three seasons and finished his four-year career with 78 goals, 38 assists and 116 points. His 32 goals this season marked a career high mark.
The National Lacrosse League is North America's professional indoor lacrosse league, featuring 13 teams playing in the major markets of the United States and Canada. NLL teams each play a 16-game regular season schedule (eight home and eight away) that begins in December and runs through April, followed by the Champion's Cup Playoffs.
