Three Seniors Earn NEILA Academic Honors

Fairfield, Conn.—Three senior men's lacrosse players were honored for their academic success yesterday. Matt Ferrino (Orchard Park, N.Y.), Aaron Lupo (Schenectady, N.Y.) and Rock Tate (Lantana, Fl.) were named to the 2012 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Senior Scholar-Athlete Team.

Midfielder Ferrino, who graduated on Sunday with a degree in finance, led the team in shots and shots on goal this year with 67 and 39 respectively for a .582 shots on goal percentage. He finished his 2012 campaign with 16 goals and 5 assists. Ferrino completes his four-year career as Pioneer with 35 goals and a .241 shot percentage over 45 games played.

Lupo wrapped up his senior season with 14 goals and three assists. The midfield computer science major netted 23 goals during his time in a Pioneer jersey with a .306 shot percentage.

Defenseman Tate picked up 12 ground balls and caused five turnovers this past season. Before receiving his degree in Biology, the Lantana, Fl. Native recorded 50 groundballs and 20 caused turnovers for the Pioneers.
