Matt Gannon Named NEC Mens Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Junior attack Matt Gannon (Huntington, N.Y.) was named the Northeast Conference Men's Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week on Monday for his record-breaking performance at Wagner last Saturday.
Gannon had a single-game program record seven assists in the Pioneers' 21-8 win over the Seahawks on Saturday. The previous single-game record was six set by Peter Greco during the 2007 season. His seven points are a career-high, eclipsing the five he had at Mount St. Mary's one week earlier. Gannon has 12 points in Sacred Heart's first two conference games, both wins.
Over the last six games, Gannon has 23 points on 19 assists and four goals. He is the second Pioneer in as many weeks to earn an NEC weekly honor. Sophomore goalie Jon Flood (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week last week.
Sacred Heart returns to Campus Field Saturday night to take on Quinnipiac at 7 p.m.
