FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team and head coach Tom Mariano have teamed up with the American Cancer Society's Coaches vs. Cancer initiative for Saturday night's game against Quinnipiac.
When the Pioneers host Quinnipiac at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 13, Sacred Heart will wear t-shirts featuring the names of people who have fought against cancer. The cost of a t-shirt to support this cause is $25, and proceeds will benefit the life-saving work of the American Cancer Society and its Coaches vs. Cancer initiative.
"We feel like everyone has been touched by some form of cancer, so we wanted to do our part in helping raise awareness of this fight and to honor those that have been affected by cancer," said Mariano. "This year we have chosen to raise awareness of leukemia and will wear orange t-shirts during the game."
There is a limited amount of game shirts, however t-shirts can be pre-ordered for $25 and picked up at the game. For more information on the game or to reserve a shirt, contact the men's lacrosse office (203-365-7563) or a lacrosse player.
