Men's Lacrosse Hosts Robert Morris Saturday For Senior Day

Setting the Scene … Sacred Heart wraps up the home slate Saturday when it takes on Robert Morris in a key Northeast Conference game for Senior Day.
Series History vs. Robert Morris … Sacred Heart is 4-4 all-time against Robert Morris dating back to 2005. The Pioneers won the first four meetings, with the Colonials winning the last four. Robert Morris won last year's game 17-10 at Campus Field. Mike Mawdsley led all players with four goals as Cody Marquis added a game-high three assists.
Last Time Out … The Pioneers led 11-9 after three quarters last Saturday against Quinnipiac, but the Bobcats tied the game twice in the fourth quarter and won 13-12 in three overtimes. Cody Marquis scored a career-high five goals and had six points on the night. Matt Gannon also had six points on a goal and five assists.
Senior Day ... Sacred Heart will honor seniors Pierce Bradley, Eric Crepinsek, Trevor Dauses, Pat Fletcher, Shane Foley, Mack Fuller, Matt King, Stephen Kontos, Eric Madigan, Peter Mormino, Dylan Morrisey, and Nick Soubry prior to Saturday's game for Senior Day.
Fill It Up … The Pioneers have scored double-digit goals in each of the last three games, including 12 in their triple-overtime loss to Quinnipiac last Saturday. Sacred Heart is second in the NEC with 10.64 goals per game, behind Robert Morris and it's 12.09 goals per game.
Gannon Moves Into NEC Assists Lead … Junior attackman Matt Gannon dished out five more assists last Saturday against Quinnipiac, moving into the NEC lead for assists per game. Gannon is averaging 2.64 assists per game, passing Andrew Scalley of Mount St. Mary's. He is also fifth in the nation in assists per game. Gannon has 29 assists this season, fourth-most in a single season in program history. The single-season assist record is 38 set by Dave Root in 1995.
Success At The X … Stephen Kontos set career-highs with 23 faceoff wins and 15 ground balls last week against Quinnipiac. His 15 ground balls gave him 241 for his career, passing Josh Mathon ('99-'02) for the Sacred Heart career groundballs record. Kontos is currently sixth in the nation with a 62.7% faceoff percentage.
Like a King … Senior midfielder Matt King tied Mike Mawdsley for the team lead in goals last Saturday. His four goals against Quinnipiac gave him 22 for the season. King had 17 goals in his first three seasons. He has scored four goals in each of the last two games, and is currently on a 10-game goal-scoring streak. King is second on the team with 30 points this season.
Providing Assists … Over the last four games, Sacred Heart has had 40 assists on 54 goals. The Pioneers had nine assists on their 12 goals last Saturday against Quinnipiac, one week after dishing out a season-high 14 assists at Wagner. Sacred Heart has assisted on over half of their goals in eight games this season, including having assists on all seven goals against Vermont on March 23. The Pioneers are second in the NEC in assists per game, averaging 6.64 a contest.
