Men’s Lacrosse Drops Home Finale To #20 Bryant

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart men's lacrosse team ended its home slate Tuesday night with a 9-3 loss to the #20 Bryant Bulldogs at Campus Field. 

Freshman midfielder Max Tuttle scored two goals for the Pioneers to give him 20 for the season. Alex Dodge scored for his 97th career point. Ryan O'Donoghue led the SHU defense with six caused turnovers and added four groundballs. Matt Carracappa had five groundballs. Greg Price made 11 saves in goal.

Bryant (10-4, 5-1 NEC) led 4-0 at halftime on the strength of two Ryan Sharpe goals and goaltender Gunnar Waldt's six saves. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 7-0 in the third quarter on two Collins Gantz goals and a Jake Pellegrino tally. Sacred Heart (2-13, 0-5 NEC) got on the board with 5:55 to play in the fourth quarter when Tuttle cut to the crease and fired a Bryce Jurk pass past Waldt to make the score 8-1. Tuttle scored again 41 seconds later to cut the deficit to six, 8-2. Dodge capped off the Pioneers' 3-0 run at the 4:15 mark on Dodge's 20th goal of the season, assisted by Brian Masi.

The Bulldogs outshot the Pioneers 35-26 and held a 31-24 advantage in groundballs. Sacred Heart forced 23 turnovers and committed just 16.

Sacred Heart wraps up its 2016 season on Saturday, April 30 when it travels to Hobart for a 1 p.m. game against the Statesmen.
