Then, in the final moments, as the Pioneer cycled for the final shot, Katz rifled a shot from a hard angle that just snuck under the crossbar as time expired. Hofstra controlled the third quarter just as the Pioneers dominated the second. The Pride scored a pair of goals of their own to regain the lead. Brad Loizeuax scored four minutes into the quarter to tie the score once again. Card put the Pride back on top with six minutes remaining.

Katz scored his fourth goal of the day with the Pioneers a man-up and 6:43 remaining to tie the score again. However, the Pride answered right back as, off the ensuing face-off, Mike Sundin came down and zipped a shot past Frank for a 5-4 Pride lead.

Card scored his second goal of the day with 2:15 remaining and appeared to have the game in hand. However, the Pioneers wouldn't go away as Katz found the back of the net with 1:16 left to make it a one goal game yet again. Sophomore Evan Morgan (Ashburn, VA) would get a shot off in the final seconds but Gvozden made the save and the Pride cleared the ball to seal the victory.
