Final Stats

BETHLEHEM, PA - The Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team dropped a 9-6 contest at Lehigh, Saturday afternoon.  The Pioneers led 4-2 at the half, but the Mountain Hawks controlled the second, outscoring SHU 7-2 in the half.  For the season, Sacred Heart fell to 3-7 overall, while Lehigh improved to 6-5.


Pioneer senior attack Timmy Katz (Freeport, NY) scored the first goal of the game, with 6:56 remaining in the first quarter.  For Katz, it was his team-leading 25th goal of the season.  Sophomore Chris Casey (Duxbury, MA) netted a pair of goals in the second quarter to give SHU a 3-1 lead.  After a Lehigh score by freshman David DiMaria, senior Jon Flood (Hauppauge, NY) notched his 15th of the season to put the Pioneers up 4-2 heading into the locker room.


After the intermission, the Mountain Hawks got a pair of goals from freshman Dante Fantoni and one from sophomore Cameron Lao-Gosney to bring Lehigh within one by the close of the third quarter.  In the fourth, Fantoni scored over five minutes in to tie the game before sophomore Roman Lao-Gosney found the back of the net to give the Mountain Hawks the lead.


Casey finished the game with a team-high three goals for Sacred Heart.  Senior attack Evan Morgan (Ashburn, VA) added a pair of assists, while Katz and freshman Bryan Badolato (West Islip, NY) notched a goal and an assist each.


Fantoni led the way for Lehigh with five goals, putting his season total at 19.  Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney each contributed a goal and collected an assist.


Sophomore Conor Murphy made 12 saves to record the win for the Mountain Hawks.  In net for the Pioneers, senior Tom Trgo (N. Merrick, NY) made 18 saves, his second highest total on the year, in the loss.


Lehigh outshout Sacred Heart 46-28 in the game.  Junior Will Scudder dominated the faceoff X for the Mountain Hawks as he won 14 of 18 attempts.


The Pioneers return to action on April 17, after a 13 day layoff, at Bryant at 2:00 pm.
