Setting the Scene... Sacred Heart takes the field for the first time since April 3 as the Pioneers visit Bryant for the first time in program history. Faceoff is slated for 2:00 pm at Bulldog Stadium.


Last Time Out... Ahead by one at the end of the third quarter, Sacred Heart let the game slip away as it gave up four unanswered to Lehigh on the road, two weeks ago. The Pioneers were up 2-0 early with goals from senior attack Timmy Katz and sophomore midfielder Chris Casey. Casey finished the game with three goals for the Red & White.


About the Pioneers... The Pioneers have lost back-to-back road games since they last one, at home, against Hartford. Overall, Sacred Heart is 3-7 and led in scoring by Katz who has netted 25 goals and collected eight assists for 33 total points. Fellow seniors Jon Flood and Evan Morgan are tied for second in scoring with 19 points. Flood has scored 15 times and added four assists, while Morgan has tallied 10 scores and a team-high nine assists. In the cage, senior Tom Trgo owns a .589 save percentage and 10.07 goals against average.


Scouting the Bulldogs... Coming off a 15-14 win over Robert Morris, Bryant is 7-4 on the season. Sophomore Max Weisenberg scored eight goals in two games last week to push his season total to 22 goals and seven assists. Freshman Peter McMahon has collected a team-best 11 assists and notched 10 goals of his own. Sophomore Travis Harrington is third in scoring for the Bulldogs with 11 scores and nine helpers. Classmate Jameson Love has posted a .590 save percentage and 6.59 GAA through 11 games in between the pipes.


Last Time vs. Bryant... The Bulldogs defeated the Pioneers 22-8, in the first matchup between the two schools, last February in Fairfield. Zack Greer paced BU as he tallied six goals and five assists. Bryan Kaufmann added six goals and an assist, while Kevin Hoagland contributed five scores and dished out a pair of assists. Katz and Bobby Karl notched two goals apiece for the Pioneers.


On This Date... Sacred Heart is 2-3 all-time when playing on April 17. The last time the Pioneers played on this date they lost to Villanova at home, 8-7, in 2004. In 1999, SHU defeated  Albany 19-11 at home.


Up Next... The Pioneers host Robert Morris on Campus Field, Saturday April 24, at 1:00 pm. The game vs. RMU is the first of three straight home games for SHU.


Three of a Kind... Senior Timmy Katz  has recorded a team-high five hat tricks through 10 games. Katz is one of only 21 players in the country with at least five hat tricks. His last hat trick came in the Pioneers last win, March 27 against Hartford.


Turn of the Century... In a 9-8 loss at The Mount, Katz reached the 100 point mark for his career. The two-goal effort earned him his 99th and 100th points in four years at SHU. Overall, Katz has 102 points for his career.


In the Polls... Sacred Heart received votes in the March 21 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division I Poll. It was the fourth time, and third straight week, this season that the Pioneers have received votes in this poll. SHU has also been ranked as high as sixth in the NEILA Coaches’ Poll Top Eight.


Weekly Honors... Senior attack Timmy Katz was named the Turfer NEILA Player of the week for the week ending February 21. Katz scored four goals and dished out a pair of assists in a 13-6 win over Presbyterian.


Top 35... Trgo ranks seventh in the country, out of 47 eligible goalies, with a save percentage of .589. Katz is 21st in goals per game with 2.50 and is in a seven-way tie for 35th in the country for points per game at 3.30 through games completed April 11.
