SHU Men's Lacrosse Announces 2005 Team Awards

The Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team announced their team awards for the 2005 season this afternoon. In addition, the team announced that juniors Thomas Hind (Farmingdale, NY), Matthew Robideau (Massena, NY), Chad Clark (Camillus, NY) and Kiel Adams (Rome, NY) have been elected captains for the 2006 season by their teammates.
Robideau, a team captain this season, was this year's recipient of the Offensive MVP award, an honor he shared after last season with Ben Giamichael. The junior midfielder led the team in scoring for the second-consecutive season with 19 goals and a team-best 14 assists for 33 points. He capped his outstanding year by earning a sport on the All-Colonial Athletic Association first team.
For the second-straight year, Hind was awarded the team's Most Valuable Defensive Player award. Also a team captain this season, Hind played in 773:48 minutes while recording an 11.55 goals against average with 122 saves and a 6-8 record. He also had 29 ground ball pick-ups.
This season's Rookie of the Year award went to freshman midfielder Tony Tanzi (Mahopac, NY) who finished the year with 14 points on nine goals and five assists to go along with 28 ground balls while earning a spot on the All-CAA Rookie Team. Senior Blake Reardon (St. Michael, MN) earned the team's "Ground Ball" award after registering 82 grounders from his face-off/midfield position. He also led the team at the face-off "X" winning 170-of-314.
Senior Chris Rosas (Glenelg, MD) earned this season's "Coach's Award" after leading the team both on and off the field as one of this season's team captains. Fellow senior Jeff Monaco (Carmel, NY) was the recipient of this year's "Heart Award" was given each season to the Pioneer who puts forth maximum effort every day both on and off the field.
