McDonough Named NEILA Senior Scholar-Athlete

Fairfield, CT - Senior Shawn McDonough (Carmel, NY) has been named a Senior Scholar-Athlete by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. The Scholar-Athlete Team acknowledges the graduating seniors from their respective schools, who have earned over a 3.0 grade point average and have excelled on the field.

McDonough graduated from SHU last weekend with a degree in finance. He was the Pioneers top defender throughout his career and helped anchor the unit this year. He finished the regular season with 28 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Gannon had an impressive year in his rookie campaign with the Pioneers, netting 10 goals in 14 games. He also had 10 groundballs and 7 caused turnovers. Gannon was a consistent player, spreading his 10 goals out over nine different games.

The 2009 NEILA Senior Scholar-Athlete team includes 19 student-athletes from nine different institutions across New England.
