EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 8, 2010) – Freshman defender Omer Levy (Yahud, Israel) sent a cross into the box, in the 59th minute, for graduate student Patrick Daka (Chingola, Zambia) who headed the ball into the net for the lone score of the afternoon, giving the Sacred Heart men's soccer team a 1-0 win at Mount St. Mary's. The win improved the Pioneers to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the Northeast Conference, while extending their win streak to four games.
Daka has been able to provide the needed spark off the bench for Sacred Heart over the last week. This was his second goal of the season and first game winner. His last goal was an equalizing score that sent SHU to overtime with Long Island, last Friday. For Levy, it was his first career assist.
Junior goalkeeper Alex Fait (Ottawa, Ont.) earned his second straight shutout and third of the season by making two saves in the winning effort. In net for the Mountaineers, senior Chris Davis stopped a pair of shots.
For the game, Sacred Heart held a slight edge in shots taken, 8-7.
The Pioneers return to action as they face #10 Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J., Sunday afternoon, at 1:00 pm.
