Men's Soccer Beats Robert Morris 1-0 in NEC Season Opener

(Moon Township, PA) -  The Sacred Heart University Men's Soccer team beat the Robert Morris Colonials 1-0 on a goal by Marcelo Simoes (Ouro Fino, Brazil just 4:42 into the game for the only goal, as the Pioneers won their first game of the Northeast Conference Men's Soccer schedule on the road in their first of two on the western Pennsylvania trip.

Justin Brewer (Somers, CT), who leads SHU with seven points, continued his early-season point-setting tear with a back-heel one-touch pass 22 yards from net to Simoes.  He collected the pass in the center of the field, and struck a low hard shot inside the right post to give the Pioneers the early advantage.

Alex Fait (Ottawa, ON) made four saves for the shutout, as the Pioneers improved to 4-3 on the year, but more importantly, 2-0 in NEC play.

SHU will take on Saint Francis of PA Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
