Men's Soccer Season Comes to an End in 1-0 Loss to FDU in NEC Semifinals

(Fairfield, CT) - The Fairleigh Dickenson Knights beat the Sacred Heart Men's Soccer team Friday 1-0 in the NEC Men's Soccer Semifinals, ending the season for the NEC Co-Regular Season champions and number one seed.

The teams played scoreless through one half, with Sacred Heart knocking on the door a couple of times with a bicycle kick from inside the box by Justin Brewer (Somers, CT) five minutes in and three consecutive corners by Brian Francolini (Ellington, CT) in the 13 minute.

FDU , scored the game's only goal in the 56th minute on a header by Anthony Moore.  He took a headed pass from Nicholas Walker, aided by a gusting wind that blew strongly all day across Fairfield University's Lessing Field, off a corner kick for the Knights.  Moore then headed it on a floater over Alex Fait (Ottawa, ON) for the eventual game-winner.

Fait finished with five saves, while the Knights' defense limited the Pioneers to three shots on goal. Fracolini had a chance to tie it late, but his shot along the ground from about ten feet left of the post was stopped by Jacob Lissek in the 82nd minute off a corner kick.

The Pioneers finish their season with a an overall record of 10-5-4.
