Men’s Soccer Falls to LIU Brooklyn 5-0

Brooklyn, N.Y.—The Sacred Heart men's soccer team fell to LIU Brooklyn 5-0 on Friday afternoon. The Blackbirds (9-4-2, 3-1-1 NEC) outshot the Pioneers (2-9-2, 0-4 NEC) 19 to 11.

Freshman Hadyno Sarr led Sacred Heart with three shots. Rasmus Hansen got LIU Brooklyn on the board in the third minute with his strike off a free kick from 20 yards out. Rasmus struck again with a penalty kick goal in the 26th minute. Naeem Charles tipped in a pass from Giuseppe Barone with one second remaining in the first half to bring the score to 3-0. LIU Brooklyn added two more goals in the second half to bring the final to 5-0.

Sacred Heart returns home to Campus Field on Sunday October 23 when they take on Robert Morris. Kickoff is set for 12:00pm.

First Half

- Hansen picked up first goal of the game, getting a deflection off free kick in the third minute.

- Sarr has shot get knocked down by Logan Keys in the 11th minute.

- Hansen nabbed the penalty kick opportunity in the 26th minute.

- Oscar Curras shot missed just high in the 27th minute.

- Charles closed out the first half with his first tally of the game. 

Second Half

- Keys denied a shot from Curras in the 53rd minute

- Robert Strain picked up two straight saves in the 55th minute

- Callum Smith's header attempt missed high in the 64th minute 

- Charles grabbed second goal of the game in the 66th minute

- Barone brought final score to 5-0 with his goal in the 72nd minute

- Sarr missed just high with the Pioneers last shot in the 84th minute
