Saint Peter's edges SHU in overtime to win 2-1

JERSEY CITY, N.J.- The Sacred Heart University Men's Soccer team (1-3-1 overall, 0-0 NEC) fell to Saint Peter's (2-3 overall, 0-0 MAAC) by a final score of 2-1. 

Saint Peter's would get on the board first as they would score a goal early at 6:27 to take a 1-0 lead courtesy of Marco Torino. SHU would get off its first shot of the game at 11:59 as CJ Weinstein would launch a shot that went just wide keeping the score at 1-0 in favor of the Peacocks. As both teams defenses pressed hard as neither team would allow a shot for twelve straight minutes the Pioneers would get their chance to break the Saint Peter's defense in the twenty-third minute. Alejandro Arribas would fire a shot passed the goalie to tie the game up at 1-1 after an assistant by Segundo Navarro at 23:26. The first half would conclude with both sides still notched at 1-1. 

The Peacocks would be aggressive in the second half as they would fire off seven shots before SHU could attempt one but none would slip by goalie Robert Strain keeping the score tied at 1-1 heading into the 79thminute. At 79:47 Segundo Navarro would attempt a shot on goal but it went wide to keep the score even. Neither team would be able to score a goal in the second half so the game moved into overtime. 

Saint Peter's would be the only team to take shots in the first overtime but Strain would continue his strong day in goal to keep the game tied as the game moved into a second overtime. At 107:24 Saint Peter's would score a goal to earn the win over SHU by a final score of 2-1.
