Hyltoft Scores First Goal of SHU Career While Pirates Win 2-1

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Men's Soccer team (1-5-1 overall, 0-0 NEC) fell to Seton Hall (3-2-1 overall, 0-0 BIG EAST) this afternoon by a tight score of 2-1. The team returns to action on Saturday Sept. 22 when they travel to New York to face Iona. Game-time is set for 3:00 p.m.

After a series of rough defense began the game for the Pioneers, CJ Weinstein would attempt a shot on goal but would fly just left at 11:03 to keep the score at 0-0 in the first half. Seton Hall would dominate the first half in shots as they outshot the Pioneers 14-5 in the first half. But off a corner kick by Alejandro Arribas at 28:22 sophomore Zander Hyltoft would find the back of the net to give him his first goal of his SHU career and put the Pioneers ahead 1-0. After back and forth shots were taken by each team respectively it would be the Pirates that would score next at Nico Andersen would receive the ball from Martin Storesund and Andersen would squeeze the ball passed the goal to tie the game up at 35:30. The first half would close with the game tied at 1-1.  

Hyltoft would continue his strong play as he would begin the second half with a header that just went high over the goal post at 54:03 to keep the game tied at 1-1. Seton Hall would be able to score courtesy of JP Marin off an assist by Nico Andersen to take the 2-1 lead at 54:03. The Pioneers would attempt to come back and tie the game as four minutes later Alejandro Arribas would launch a shot wide right at 58:57 keeping the score in the Pirates favor 2-1. Neither team would be able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game giving Seton Hall the 2-1 victory.

  • A corner kick by Alejandro Arribas at 28:22 would allow sophomore Zander Hyltoft would find the back of the net to give him his first goal of his SHU career
  • A goal by Seton Hall's Nico Andersen off an assist by Martin Storesund at 35:30 would tie the game at 1-1.
