WILMINGTON, NC (September, 10) - The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team falls to 0-3 on the young season after losing a 4-1 decision to the University of Jacksonvill at the Adidas/Homestay Inn classic, held at the University of Charlotte-Wilmington.
Sacred Heart allowed Jacksonville to start off with a bang allowing the only goal of the first half just 0:27 into the contest. Dolphin's forward Tommy Krizanovic took a pass from Richard Blackburn and was able to beat SHU goalkeeper Chris Marchese for the early lead.
The Pioneers would hold Jacksonville off the scoreboard for the remainder of the first half.
Jacksonville would extend their lead early in the second half when Blackburn would convert a header to run the Dolphins out to a 2-0 lead. They would then score two goals in a four-minute span to put Sacred Heart away.
Sacred Heart would finally get on the board in the 74th minute when freshman Andrew Sharp converted a penalty kick to close out the scoring at 4-1.
The Pioneers return to action Sunday afternoon September 12 when they take on hosts UNC-Wilmington at 2:00 PM.
