Men's Soccer nipped by Seawolves, 1-0
Sept. 22, 2004
FAIRFIELD, CT (September 22) - The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team was defeated a slim 1-0 margin by the Stony Brook Seawolves in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.
The only goal of the contest came off the boot of Chris Megaloudis, who easily sent a ball home after Pioneers goalkeeper Matt Weston (Storrs, CT) was left out of position after he was run into by an attacking Seawolves forward.
The Pioneers best scoring oppertunity came in the 64th minute, when a Ricarti Mendes (Campinas, Brazil) free kick hit the woodwork, and a rebound attempt by Neal Shapiro (Glenwood, NJ) was cleared off the goal line.
Weston made three saves on the afternoon for Sacred Heart, while Seawolves keeper Jon Moschella was more active, stopping five Pioneer scoring attempts.
Sacred Heart will return to action on Friday, October 1, when they travel to Hamden, CT to face cross-state rivals Quinnipiac at 3:00 PM.
