Pioneer Men's Soccer End Season with 2-0 loss to Robert Morris

FAIRFIELD, CT (November 7, 2004) - The Sacred Heart men's soccer team closed out the 2004 season falling to visiting Robert Morris University 2-0 in Northeast Conference action Sunday afternoon. The Colonials got goals from Joe Di Buono and Eric MacDonald to improve to 5-10-4 overall and 3-3-3 in the NEC. SHU ends the year at 1-14-1 and 0-8-1 in the league.
Di Buono got RMU on the board early on, scoring in the 14th minute of play. Ryan Zabinski fed a streaking Di Buono along the right side, as he collected the pass and got pass SHU goalkeeper Chris Marchese, who came out to try and make a play. Di Buono promptly deposited a shot in the back of the empty net for the 1-0 advantage.
MacDonald made it 2-0 in the 48th minute when the Colonials would convert their fourth corner kick of the game. Mike DelGreco served a pass to the far post where MacDonald was waiting to collect the ball and fire off the post and in.
Marchese made four saves in goal in taking the loss. Robert Morris' Tomer Chencinski recorded five saves in earning the shutout for the Colonials.
Sunday marked the final home match for eight SHU graduating seniors. Rui Rainho, Dion Daniels, Carlos Caracas, Allen and Richard Tomczykowski, Slyvester, Greg Maurice and Chris Gasiewski were all honored before playing in their final matches in front of the home Pioneer crowd.
