Fairfield, CT - For the second straight year, the Pioneer men's soccer team will travel to Wisconsin to participate in the Nike Soccer Classic. Sacred Heart will face the host UW-Green Bay on Saturday at 2:30 pm before closing out the weekend against Georgia State Sunday at 11:00 am. The Pioneers are coming off a 3-2 overtime victory over Holy Cross on Tuesday in which freshman Jesper Fredriksson scored the game winning goal in the 97th minute.
In 2005, Sacred Heart went 1-1 in the tournament, defeating Bowling Green in the opener before falling to the host Phoenix in the second game. In the season opening contest, Jason Tessitore scored the game's only goal to lift SHU to the victory. The Pioneers fell to UW-Green Bay on Sunday, 2-1.
