WEST HARTFORD, CT (April 2, 2011) - The Sacred Heart men's tennis team won its third-straight match and their fourth in the last five with a 7-0 win at the University at Hartford on Saturday. The Pioneers improved to 9-6 overall this year.
The Pioneers grabbed the doubles points with wins at #2 and #3. Senior Cole Conrad (Fairfield, CT) and freshman Luke Bagi (Branford, CT battled their way to a 9-8 win over Marco Neves and Bogdan Nedelcu at #2 doubles. The team of senior John Harvey (Wethersfield, CT) and junior Logan Mohring (Naples, FL) delivered the point with an 8-3 win over Joel de los Santos and Edgardo Ureta at #3.
SHU swept through all six singles matches with senior Kirill Kasyanov (Yonkers, NY) extended his winning streak to 13-straight and notched his 22nd win this year with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Aneil Bhalla at #1.
Senior Michael Syer (Oakville, Ontario) won 6-2, 6-3 over Marco Neves at #2 and was followed by senior Chris Ujkic (Mattituck, NY) at #3 who beat Josh Isaacson, 6-3, 6-4. Senior Jacob Miller () beat Nedelcu 6-3, 6-0 at #4.
Mohring earned a win at #5, his first singles victory this year, beating de los Santos 6-3, 6-0 while Bagi earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ureta at #6 to complete the sweep.
The Pioneers are back in action on Monday when they play host to the cross-town Fairfield Stags.
