Pioneers Open Spring with Losses to NJIT and Yale

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Sacred Heart men's tennis team opened up play in 2012 over the weekend, falling to NJIT, 7-0, and Yale, 7-0.  The Pioneers played both matches at Yale University.

On Saturday against NJIT, SHU senior Chadd Sullo (Orange, CT) battled Holger Norregaard at #1 singles before falling in three sets.  Sullo won the first set 7-6 but dropped two and three, 6-1 and 6-4.  Also losing in three sets was junior Logan Mohring (Naples, FL) who also took the first set, 6-2 before losing 6-2 and 6-2.

In Sunday's loss to Yale, the team of Mohring and sophomore Luka Bagi (Branford, CT) lost a hard fought 8-7 decision at #2 doubles to Patrick Chase and Tommy Ratchford.

The Pioneers will return to Yale University on Saturday, February 11th to play host Northeast Conference foe St. Francis (NY).
