Pioneers Post 6-1 Win Over St. Francis (NY)

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Sacred Heart Pioneers notched their first dual match win of 2012 and their first Northeast Conference win of the year beating St. Francis (NY) 6-1 on Saturday night at Yale's indoor courts.

The Pioneers earned the doubles point by taking two of the three matches.  Luka Bagi (Branford, CT) and Logan Mohring (Naples, FL) won an 8-1 decision over Alex Tokarz and James Brennan-Tsang at #2 doubles.  Justin Pagan (Flushing, NY) and John Lopresti (Syosset, NY) clinched the point with a 9-8 (12-10) decision in a battle with Martin Grunn and Daniel Gonzalez at #3.

Chadd Sullo (Orange, CT) led the singles charge with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Danlahdi Robinson at #1.  Jake Miller (West Chesterfield, NH) posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Tita Mba at #2 while Mohring won 6-3 and 6-0 at #3 over Brennan-Tsang.  Pagan won 6-0, 6-0 over Alex Tokarz and Bagi closed out the win with a three-set victory over Gonzalez, 7-5, 6-7, 10-6.

SHU will return to action hosting Siena on Saturday, February 25th at Yale.
