SHU Tennis Picked to Finish 5th in NEC

Fairfield, CT – In the annual vote by Northeast Conference (NEC) Coaches, the Sacred Heart men's tennis team was picked to finish 5th in the NEC. The Pioneers are already 1-0 this season in the conference, defeating St. Francis Brooklyn on September 16th. The coaches have nominated defending champions Fairleigh Dickinson to the top spot, nearly edging out Bryant who comes in at #2.

Last season, the Pioneers finished with a 1-4 record in the NEC, securing their only conference win over St. Francis Brooklyn.

This year's Sacred Heart squad features six newcomers and three returnees. Sophomore Justin Pagan (Flushing, NY/St. Mary's), posted a 3-3 record within the conference last season primarily based out of the #4 position. Newcomer Matt Dean (Newington, CT/Rocky Hill), a freshman, leads the team with seven wins this season.

The Pioneers return to the courts on February 16th, when they return home to face St. Peter's.
