Pioneers Defeat Robert Morris 4-1 in NEC Quarterfinals

WEST WINDSOR, NJ – The Sacred Heart men's tennis team swept the doubles point and won three singles matches to defeat the Robert Morris Colonials, 4-1, in the quarterfinals of the NEC Championships Thursday afternoon at the Mercer County Tennis Center. SHU will take on the top seeded, Bryant Bulldogs, in the semi-finals tomorrow morning.

Anthony Savio (Bangalore, India) came up with a gutsy 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) to clinch the Pioneers berth into the NEC Championship semi-finals and avenge a loss to RMU earlier in the season. Kevin Budrawich (New Canaan, CT), and Justin Pagan (Flushing, NY) set up the clinching win with straight set wins of their own.

In doubles action, the duos of Matt Dean (Newington, CT) and Budrawich and Pagan and Brian Power both secured wins to give SHU a 1-0 lead.
