Matthew Cook begins his fourth year serving as the assistant coach of men's and women's tennis program. Prior to becoming coach, he played three years at Sacred Heart and was team captain his Senior season, when he helped SHU win its first conference tournament in school history in 2011. Cook also currently serves as a marketing director for adidas Tennis Camp in Fairfield, CT.
In his first year as an assistant in 2012, he helped lead the program to an undefeated record in the regular season of the Northeast Conference. The Pioneers would go on to capture their second consecutive conference tournament title.
In addition to coaching, Cook is in his final year of graduate school at the University of New Haven where he will be graduating with his Masters in Business Administration and a focus in Sport Management.
Cook started to play tennis when he was tennis and was taught by his father Gary. He played at Jonathan Law High School, where during his Junior and Senior year, he was an all Conference Selection and was awarded the team MVP.
