Kasyanov Earns Second-Straight NEC Award

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 9, 2010) - Sacred Heart junior Kirill Kasyanov (Yonkers, NY) was named the Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week, announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league office.
Kasyanov posted a victory at No. 1 singles last week and two more at No. 3 doubles. The third-year Pioneer defeated South Dakota State's Corey Paluch in straight sets (6-3, 7-5) as part of Sacred Heart's 6-1 team victory. Kasyanov appeared on his way to another No. 1 singles triumph when he won the first set against Northern Illinois' Maksym Bartiuk, 6-1, but the SHU junior dropped the next two in suffering 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 defeat. The NEC Player of the Week award is the second in two weeks for Kasyanov.
On the year, Kasyanov is 15-9 in singles action and has won four-straight double matches.
The Pioneers wrap-up their Florida Spring Break trip on Wednesday when they face Moravian.
