FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 16, 2010) - For the third consecutive week, Sacred Heart junior Kirill Kasyanov (Yonkers, NY) was named the Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Kasyanov makes it three NEC Player of the Week awards in a row. He earned a pair of victories at both No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles last week. Bumping up his dual match singles record to 17-9, Kasyanov scored straight-set wins over top players from Moravian and Villanova. The third-year Pioneer closed out Sacred Heart's Florida trip by besting Moravian's Ian Box, 6-0, 6-2, as part of a 7-0 team triumph. In a 4-3 team loss to Villanova, Kasyanov dominated Alex Leeser, 6-0, 6-1. With an 8-1 win over Moravian's No. 2 tandem and an 8-6 triumph over Villanova's second doubles pairing, Kasyanov and Nick Mazzarese have now won three in a row as a doubles team.
The Pioneers and Kasyanov are back in action on Sunday at Boston University
