Kasyanov Makes it Four-Straight NEC Awards
March 24, 2010
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 24, 2010) - For the fourth-straight week, Sacred Heart junior Kirill Kasyanov (Yonkers, NY) has been named the Northeast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
Kasyanov is 4-for-4 this spring season when it comes to winning the NEC Player of the Week award. The defending NEC champion Pioneers' top singles player continued his winning ways as Sacred Heart contested two dual matches last week. Kasyanov accounted for four victories, two at No. 1 singles and two at No. 3 doubles. He raced to an easy straight-sets victory over Boston University's Jeff Chudacoff, 6-1, 6-1, as part of the Pioneers' 5-2 team triumph. Earlier in the week, he needed even less time to defeat Villanova's Alex Leeser, 6-0, 6-1. Kasyanov and his doubles partner, Nick Mazzarese have not lost in any of the past seven matches that they have partnered together. Their latest victory came over BU's Alex Hallenbeck and Marcus Vanberckel, 8-6.
Kasyanov and the Pioneers will play host to Hartford on Friday afternoon and Monmouth this Sunday.
