Pioneer Men Finish Second, Women Fourth in NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships

2011 NEC Indoor Track and Field Championship Final Results

(Landover, MD) - The Sacred Heart Men's Track and Field team finished second in the NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships, while the women's team took fourth place this weekend at the Prince George Sports and Learning Complex.

For the second straight season, Bertony Jean-Louis set the conference record in the Men's 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 7.98 seconds.  Brandon Huchinson finished second in the same event with an IC4A qualifying time of 8.08 seconds, while Peter Conti finished third in 8.45 seconds.

Kimberley Deloreto finished second in the Women's 5000 Meter Run with a time of 17:18.65, surpassing the previous conference record but shy of Robert Morris' Merel Van Steenbergen's first place finish 1.63 seconds earlier.

Carol Cress finished second in the Women's Shot Put, qualifying for the ECAC's with a toss of 13.97 meters.  Athalia Smith also qualified for the ECAC's in the Women's Weight Throw, finishing second with a toss of 17.95 meters.

Central Connecticut State University won the Men's Championship, while Long Island University took the Women's Championship.
