New haven, CT. - The Sacred Heart Men's Track & Field Team competed at the 13th Annual Giegengack Invitational at Yale University.
Trevor Guerrera also competed in the Armory Track Invitational in New York City. He was 1 of just 10 men in the 800m Invitational Race consisting of collegiate and elite post collegiate runners. The junior finished 2nd, crossing the line in 1:50.98, his 2nd fastest indoor time ever and an IC4A and New England qualifying time. Guerrera currently sits 1st in NEC rankings and 19th in the nation after his performance at Boston University's Terrier Invite last week, where he finished in a time of 1:48.75.
Connor Rog ran a new season best in the fast section of the men's mile, as he crossed the line in 4:12.74. The time is under both the IC4A and New England standards, and ranks him 2nd in the NEC behind teammate Trevor Guerrera. Rog also ranks 1st in the NEC in the men's 3,000 and 5,000 meters.
Michael Kearns and Christian Turner went 2nd and 3rd in the shot put, where their best marks of the day were 48'6.25 ft and 48'5.25 ft, respectively. Turner also finished 4th in the men's weight throw, with a mark of 49'8.25 ft.
The Pioneers are back in action Friday, Feb. 17 at the North East Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at Ocean breeze Track, Staten Island at 9 am.
