SHU finishes 3rd at outdoor season opener
West Long Branch, NJ.- The Sacred heart men's track & field team finished 3rd overall among Division 1 competition with 92 points, behind Monmouth (332.5 points) and Manhattan (121 points).

On Day 1 of the Monmouth Season Opener, all three long throws were contested.

Senior Patrick DiIorio was 2nd among Division 1 competitors in the javelin, opening the season with a new personal best of 173-01 ft.
Christian Turner was 7th among scoring competitors in the hammer throw. His best mark of the day measured in at 144-05 ft.
 

On Day 2 the track and other field events took place, with a few standout performances for the Sacred Heart men.

Trevor Guerrera and Connor Rog went 1st and 2nd in the 1500 meters, crossing in times of 3:55.02 and 3:56.87. Guerrera's time surpasses the IC$A standard of 3:56.50. Teammates Nicholas Pandolfo and Jake Tavernite picked up 6th and 7th place among scoring competitors in times of 4:03.91 and 4:04.20.
Timothy Loehner ran in the elite men's 3000 meters, finishing in his fastest performance this year, 8:45.88.
Freshman Jeffrey Young scored 2nd in the 110 hurdles, finishing in 15.44 seconds.
Quaheem Dufane nabbed 6 points in the 100m dash, running a new personal best time of 11.30 seconds.
Joshua Hadity ran a new personal best in the 5000 meters, finishing 3rd among Division 1 competition in a time of 15:15.35. Teammate Andrew Handfield ran an outdoor personal best in the event as well, crossing in 15:47.53.
 
Reid Chemidlin was 3rd among scoring competitors in the high jump, clearing 6-02.25 ft.
The men picked up another 3rd place in the pole vault, as Senior Giuseppe DeLucia cleared 13-09.25 ft. Teammate Thomas Yavorka was 4th, clearing 13-03.50 ft.
