Men's Track & Field Season Opener At Boston University

Boston, Mass.- The Sacred Heart University men's track and field team opened their season on Saturday at Boston University.

Michael Kearns opened his season with an indoor personal best and ICAAAA and New England qualifying mark in the shot put. The senior will now rank 1st in the NEC this week in the event with his throw of 52'0.5 feet (15.86 meters).

Trevor Guerrera also opened his season with an ICAAAA and New England mark in the 3000 meters, crossing the line in a new personal best time of 8:21 for 5th place. Also debuting in the event was teammate and rookie Moetiz Shilleh, who crossed in a time of 8:45.95, which ranks him 2nd in the NEC behind Guerrera.

Sebastian Pierre opened up fast for the sprinters, finishing the 300 meters  in 34.78 seconds to easily win his heat.

Daniel Gerardi made his debut for the Pioneers in the pole vault, clearing 13'7.25 feet (4.15m) to take 4th in the NEC for week 1.

The Pioneers are back in action Friday Dec. 8 at the 23rd Annual University of Rhode Island Pentathlon @ Kingston, RI at 11 am
