The Sacred Heart University women's indoor track and field team finished in sixth place at the 2018 Northeast Conference Championship. The Pioneers scored 66 points.
Trevor Guerrera repeated his 2017 indoor performance, earning two individual titles in the mile and 800 meters. Both final performances were under the IC4A standard. Guerrera also ran the mile leg of the 5th place distance medley relay and a leg on the 6th place 4x400 relay. The senior currently ranks 13th in Division 1 this season in the 800 meters, and will look to hold his spot at this upcoming weekend's Last Chance Meet, hosted by Boston University.
Michael Kearns also scored in two events for the men, earning 3rd place in both the weight throw and shot put. Kearns will look to improve his best mark this season in the shot put, 15.92 meters, at IC4A's in two weeks. Teammate Christian Turner also scored in the two events, taking 6th place in the shot with a best throw of 14.64m and 5th in the weight with a best mark of 14.71m.
Sean Mefford set a new personal best in the long jump, leaping 7.01 meters to earn a bronze medal. His mark is just .01 centimeters off of the IC4A standard.
Brenden Twumasi-Ankrah was 6th in the 500 meters, scoring for the first time in the event in his career.
Freshman Christian Morris earned a spot in the 800 meter finals, and crossed the line in 1:58.14 to earn 7th place and pick up 2 points for the team.
Nicholas Pandolfo ran his way into the mile finals, also earning 7th place for another 2 points for the SHU men.
Senior Reid Chemidlin jumped a season best in the high jump (1.92 meters), to earn a bronze medal and 6 points.
Dane Krchnavy placed eighth in the 5000 meter finals
Thomas Yavorka placed ninth in the pole vault
Christian Morris placed seventh in the 800 meter
Timothy Loehner placed ninth in the 3000 meter and ninth in the 5000 meter
SHU placed sixth in the 4 x 400 meter relay final
