Mefford Earns NEC Track & Field Rookie Of The Week Award

Fairfield, Conn. - Sean Mefford earned the NEC Track & Field Athlete of the week award for his performance at the George Mason Springtime Invitational.

Mefford's second long jump performance of the season resulted in the rookie's second gold medal. The first-year Pioneer topped the field at the George Mason Springtime Invitational, leaping 6.92m (22' 8.75"). That distance is good enough to rank second overall amongst Northeast Conference leaders. Although the mark is just shy of the IC4A Championships automatic qualifying standard, Mefford has already guaranteed himself entry into the annual meet by virtue of his 7.06 jump on March 31 at Rider. He trails only Mount senior DJ Workcuff on the NEC leader board.

The Pioneers are back in action Friday 20. April at the Larry Ellis Invitational and Friday Night Distance Races at Princeton University, NJ at 4 pm.
