Trevor Guerrera captured gold and also qualified for both the New England and IC4A Championships in the Mile over the weekend at the Yale Giegengack Invitational hosted at the Coxe Cage. Smith Sets Meet Record at New England Championships
A pair of Pioneer men earned All-New England honors with sixth places finishes. Trevor Guerrera won his section of the 800 Meter heat with a new personal best of 1:51.9. That time was sixth fastest overall and the second fastest in school history, as well as fastest by a freshman. It also missed the IC4A standard by just .1 seconds. Gregory Hazell jumped to sixth place in the Triple Jump, with his furthest mark of 48’2½” surpassing the IC4A standard.

BOSTON – Nicole Bartosch turned in the second highest indoor pentathlon score in Sacred Heart’s history, becoming just the sixth Pioneer to crack the 3,000-point barrier, en route to a second place finish at the Harvard University Multi-Events on Friday and Saturday. The NCAA announced their Public Recognition Awards this week with eight Sacred Heart athletic programs being recognized for their academic achievements. The men’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams, men’s volleyball, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, women’s ice hockey, women’s golf and women’s bowling were recognized for scoring in the top 10 percent in each sport with respect to their Academic Progress Rates (APRs). Top-performing teams this year posted APR scores ranging from 978 to a perfect 1,000.

Pioneers Honored in All-NEC Indoor Track and Field Awards
(Fairfield, CT) – The Northeast Conference announced All-NEC honors for Indoor Track and Field this week, and ten Sacred Heart men’s and women’s athletes were honored. The first teamers are the gold medalists from the 2011 NEC Indoor Championships two weekends ago, while the second team consists of silver medalists. The NEC also announced the first ever All-Rookie Team, which is made up of the top freshman finishers in each event.

The Sacred Heart Men’s Track and Field team finished second in the NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships, while the women’s team took fourth place this weekend at the Prince George Sports and Learning Complex.

Both the Sacred Heart Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams were picked to finish third in the Northeast Conference Coaches Poll, released Thursday, February 3. The NEC Indoor Championships are set to take place next weekend, February 12-13, at the Prince George Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, MD.

Pioneer Women and Men Track and Field Win Nine Events at BU Tri Team Meet
The Sacred Heart men’s and women’s track and field teams participated in a Tri Team Meet with Boston University and Boston College Thursday night at the BU Track and Tennis Center, with the Pioneer women winning with an overall 16-event score of 126 and the Pioneer men tying BU with an overall score of 108.

Pioneers Claim Seven Individual Wins at Crowell Invitational
(West Point, NY) – The Sacred Heart Pioneer men’s and women’s track and field teams both competed in the Carleton Crowell Invitational this past weekend, hosted by Army. While there was no team scoring in the meet, the women had a particularly strong meet with seven individual wins and two ECAC qualifying performances.

Jean-Louis and Hutchinson Both Honored in NEC Men's Track and Field Weekly Awards
Bertony Jean-Louis (Norwalk, CT) and Brandon Hutchinson (Bay Shore, NY) of the Sacred Heart Men’s Track and Field team were both honored in the Northeast Conference Weekly Awards announced December 14. Jean-Louis was named NEC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Hutchinson claimed NEC Men’s Track Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week.

The Sacred Heart Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams competed in the Harvard University Open at Gordon Track Saturday morning, with the Pioneer teams taking three individual event wins, one school record, two IC4A qualifying performances, and 13 automatic New England qualifying performances.

Rosado and Hutchinson Each Claim NEC Men's Track and Field Weekly Award
Sacred Heart University Men’s Track and Field’s Jeremy Rosado (Brooklyn, NY) and Brandon Hutchinson (Bay Shore, NY) were both honored in this week’s NEC Weekly awards for their performances at the Connecticut Track Conference Relays at Yale University on Sunday, December 5th. Rosado was named the NEC Men’s Track Co-Athlete of the Week, while Hutchinson was named the NEC Men’s Track Co-Rookie of the Week.

Men's and Women's Track and Field Both Win CTC Relays at Yale
The Sacred Heart Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams competed in the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Relays Sunday at Yale University. The women won this meet for the 14th consecutive year with seven relay wins, while the men won for the 13th consecutive year with ten relay wins. Altogether the team had eight individual New England qualifying performances, and the men had two IC4A qualifiers.

Bertony Jean-Louis Advances in the 110 Hurdles at NCAA Regional
Sacred Heart sophomore Bertony Jean-Louis (Norwalk, CT) advanced out of the preliminaries of the 110 meter hurdles at the NCAA East Regional's at North Carolina A&T University Friday afternoon. Sophomore Athalia Smith (New Britain, CT) also represented the Pioneer track & field program competing in the weight throw.

SHU's Keith Rowe Named All-East in the Decathlon
Sacred Heart senior Keith Rowe (Taunton, MA) earned All-East honors in the decathlon at the 2010 IC4A Championships held at Princeton University. Rowe. competiting in the last meet of his four year career, finished seventh in the event to garner All-East honors for the first time.

Sacred Heart Women Finish 9th at New England's; Rowe Takes 2nd in Decathlon for the SHU Men
The Sacred Heart men's and women's track and field teams competed at the 2010 New England Championships on Friday and Saturday at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. The Pioneers women finished ninth overall in the 39 team field with 35 points while the men were 25th among 39 teams with 11 points.

The Sacred Heart track and field teams wrapped up competition at the 2010 Northeast Conference Outdoor Championships Sunday afternoon at Mount St. Mary's University. The Pioneer women finished fourth at the event while the men came in fifth overall.

Emmitsburg, Md. (May 1, 2010) - The Sacred Heart women's track and field team leads the 2010 Northeast Conference Championship after the first day of competition on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Mount St. Mary's University. SHU posted 59 points after six scored events on Saturday. The Pioneer men sit in seventh place after day one.

Seven Pioneer Teams Honored With NCAA Public Recognition Awards
The NCAA announced their Public Recognition Awards this week with seven Sacred Heart athletic programs being recognized for their academic achievements. The men’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams, men’s volleyball, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, women’s ice hockey and rowing were recognized for scoring in the top 10 percent in each sport with respect to their Academic Progress Rates (APRs).
