Pioneer Assistant Kenny Franklin Inducted into Sumter Sports Hall of Fame

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (October 14, 2009) - Sacred Heart assistant track & field coach Kenny Franklin will be inducted into the Sumter Sports Hall of Fame on November 5th. Franlin was a standout student-athlete at Sumter High School in his hometown of Sumter, South Carolina.

Franklin was a 1995 graduate of Sumter High. He won individual 4A state championships in the long jump and triple jump and was a member of a 4x400-meter relay team champion as well. He led the Gamecocks to second place in the 1994 state meet and to a state title in `95.

At Clemson, Franklin was a seven-time All-American and was a three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer.

Franklin has been with the Pioneer track and field teams since the 2003 season and has helped lead the program to three Northeast Conference Championships.
