Enzo Mackenzie (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) paced the Pioneers averaging 16.5 kills in a pair of victories en route to being named the EIVA Hay player of the week for the second consecutive week. The freshman outside hitter led Sacred Heart with 13 kills on the road against New Haven while putting up 20 kills the next day at home in a conference victory over NYU.
Mackenzie hammered 11 kills without making an error in the final two sets in the Pioneers rout of the Chargers. The Brazil native would finish the match with a .545 hitting percentage, his best performance of the season. Mackenzie was not as dominant Saturday afternoon against the Violets but the rookie attacker still made several key plays in the five set SHU triumph. Mackenzie's 20 kill performance against NYU was the second 20+ performance of his young career.
Mackenzie and the men's volleyball team return to action Tuesday night at 7:00 pm in the Pitt Center against Springfield.
