Huntingdon, PA – The SHU men's volleyball team fell 3-0 at Juniata Saturday afternoon in a non-conference clash.  Juniata posted 17 blocks while hitting at a scorching .460 pace en route to the victory.  Nick Hunt (Uniondale, NY) led the SHU attack with 11 kills but the Pioneer offense finished the match with 23 errors and a .062 hitting percentage.

Sacred Heart (5-21) held the advantage early in the opening set and grabbed its biggest lead at 10-7 following a Hunt kill.  However, the home team went on a 10-3 run that gave the Eagles a 17-13 cushion.  The Pioneers were able to fight off back-to-back set points and make it 24-23 to provide some drama following kills from Hunt and Enzo Mackenzie (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).  The Eagles converted on their third try and claimed the opening set, 25-23, on a kill from Justin Waldorf.

Juniata (27-9) dominated the action throughout the second set and jumped out to an 11-4 edge.  Ross Madden led the Eagles' offense with 12 kills on the afternoon.  Juniata cruised to win the middle frame 25-11.  The Pioneers struggled in the game and made 11 errors to go along with a -.227 swinging mark.

The Pioneers stayed close to the Eagles early in the third set and trailed 15-13 after a JC service error.  However, Juniata surged across the finish line with a 10-2 spurt that ended the set, 25-15, and the match, 3-0.  The Eagles tallied 14 kills and a .722 hitting percentage in the final set.

The SHU men's volleyball team returns to action Wednesday night to complete the non-conference portion of its schedule with a contest against Stevens Tech.
