  • Satagaj and Logosh Earn EIVA All-Academic Honors

    Raymond Satagaj (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and A.J. Logosh (Pittsford, N.Y.) were named to the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association’s 2014 All-Academic Team, which was announced by the conference Friday afternoon. The team features 15 players from seven of eight EIVA member institutions.

  • Pioneers Come From Behind to Win Season Finale

    A late comeback meant victory for the Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team’s Wednesday night as they defeated Rutgers-Newark 3-2 in the season finale. After dropping the first two 28-26 and 25-23, the Pioneers rebounded taking the third and fourth set 25-19 and 25-21 forcing a decisive set five. After trailing for most of the final set, four consecutive kills from Enzo Mackenzie (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) spelled victory for the Pioneers 15-13. Sacred Heart finished the 2014 season 10-18 and 4-10 in Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball action.
  • Pioneers Fall to No. 12 Penn State on Senior Night

    For the second night in a row, Will LeClerc (Fairfield, Conn.) led the Pioneers with 11 kills as the Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team fell 3-0 to No. 12 Penn State on “Senior Night” Saturday in the William H. Pitt Center. SHU is 9-18 heading into Wednesday’s season finale against Rutgers-Newark.
  • Pioneers' Comeback Haulted; SHU Drops Five-Setter to Saint Francis U

    Will LeClerc (Fairfield, Conn.) led the match with a season-high 14 kills as the Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team lost a heart breaker Friday night. After dropping the first two sets to Saint Francis U (25-18, 25-20), the Pioneers made a comeback dominating sets three and four (25-13, 25-16). But the comeback was cut short as the Red Flash took the fifth set 15-8 capitalizing on SHU errors. The loss drops Sacred Heart to 10-12 on the season and 5-5 in EIVA play.
  • Men's Volleyball Falls to Springfield, Vassar

    The Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team dropped two matches Saturday evening to Springfield (3-0) and Vassar College (3-2). Enzo Mackenzie (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) led the Pioneers on the day with 27 kills, and senior Will LeClerc (Fairfield, Conn.) hit .421 over eight sets. The pair of loses drops Sacred Heart to 9-16 on the season.

    The Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team fell in three straight sets to the Harvard Crimson Friday night. Enzo Mackenzie (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) led the match with 14 kills as the Pioneers fall to 9-14 on the season and 3-8 in EIVA play.
  • Mackenzie's Season Best 22 Kills Leads Pioneers to Sweep of Rutgers-Newark

    Enzo Mackenzie tallied a season best 22 kills while hitting .515 in the Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team’s sweep of EIVA opponent Rutgers-Newark. Sophomore setter R.J. Uhlir (Norfolk, Neb.) recorded 37 or his sets for assists as the Pioneers improve to 9-13 on the season and 3-7 in conference play.

    Brad Borsay (Richmond, R.I.) and Christopher Delucie (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the match tallying 10 kills each as the Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team swept the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez Tarzans Thursday evening in the William H. Pitt Center. Sophomore setter Benjamin Thomas averaged 12 assists per set as the Pioneers improve to 8-14 on the season.

    Seniors Enzo Mackenzie (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Brad Borsay (Richmond, R.I.) recorded double-doubles in the Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team’s thrilling five-set loss to NJIT Thursday night in the Fleisher Center. Mackenzie led the Pioneers with 16 kills and 12 digs, while Borsay tallied 15 kills and 11 digs. The loss drops SHU to 7-13 on the season and 2-7 in EIVA play.
  • Men's Volleyball Loses the Battle to George Mason 3-1

    Brad Borsay (Richmond, R.I.) led the Pioneers with 19 kills hitting .400 as the Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team dropped a four-set match to George Mason Saturday evening. It was a battle between the two EIVA rivals as two sets were pushed to extra points. The loss drops SHU to 7-12 this season and 2-6 in conference play.

    The Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team won a pair of matches Sunday at the Coker Tournament in Hartsville, S.C. After topping the hosting Cobras 3-1 to open the day, the Pioneers swept Pfeiffer. The Pioneers head home with a 7-10 season record.
  • Men's Volleyball Drop Two at Coker Tournament

    The Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-0 decisions on the opening day of the Coker Tournament, in Hartsville, S.C. The Pioneers fell to Lees-McRae College and Erskine College on Friday and will play the host Cobras and Pfeiffer University on Saturday.

Sophomore setter R.J. Uhlir (Norfolk, Neb.) recorded 50 assists as the Pioneers drop to 5-8 on the season and 2-4 against EIVA opponents.

    Three Pioneers reached double-digit kills as the Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team defeated George Mason University 3-1 Saturday night in the William H. Pitt Center. Senior Brad Borsay (Richmond, R.I.) paced the match with 16 kills, while Enzo Mackenzie (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Jason Kinney (Salem, N.H.) recorded 10 each. The win makes Sacred Heart 5-6 overall this season, and an even 2-2 in Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play.

Junior hit .714 recording six of his 11 attacks for kills. The Pioneers fall to 4-6 overall, and 1-2 in Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball action, while the Tigers pick up their first win of the season to improve to 1-4, and 1-0 in conference play.

    The Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team picked up a pair of road wins Saturday in the Canavan Arena at Stevens Tech in Hoboken, N.J. The Pioneers started off their day with a 3-1 (25-16, 25-17, 15-25, 25-18) win over Eastern Mennonite. Then, followed that with another win with the sweep of host-school Stevens Tech (25-13, 25-21, 25-18).

The senior only committed one error as the Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team completed a three-set sweep of Lindenwood (25-20, 25-22, 25-22) in the 2014 home opener. The Pioneers improve to 1-2 on the young season, while the Lions fall to 0-1.

    The Sacred Heart men’s volleyball team was picked to finish seventh in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association’s preseason poll. Receiving seven of the eight first-place votes, the reigning 2013 EIVA Champion Penn State was selected as the favorite to capture the 2014 championship.
