The first set was Sacred Hearts best, as they hit the court looking to capitalize on the hurt North Greenville line up. The Pioneers took the first set 25-9 thanks to the serving of Tyler Lee who hit back-to-back aces to put the Pioneers ahead 17-8. Doug Dzema was the leading contributor in the opening set tallying three kills.
The second set the Crusaders saw some more success as they managed to take an early 5-2 lead. After a couple of errors SHU was right back in it at 8-8. Cox commanded the court in the second and third set keeping North Greenville on their toes. The Pioneers took the second set 25-20.
In similar fashion from the second set Sacred Heart was in a battle in the beginning as the score was within two with SHU ahead 14-12. Sacred Hearts serving was just too much for the Crusaders as Cox, and Lee added aces to keep the Pioneers ahead and pull away with the set 25-19.
