FAIRFIELD, CT - Sophomore Mike Komlanc (St. Croix, VI) had 16 kills while making just one error, while also contributing three service aces and five total blocks to lead the Sacred Heart men's volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-23, 30-21, 30-17) win over visiting Hunter College Saturday night.
The Pioneers, now 4-5, got eight kills from senior Kalani Efstathiou (Beaverton, OR) in the opening set to take it 30-23. The Pioneers fell behind in the set 10-6 and trailed 11-9 before junior Roger Parent (Burlington, CT) won nine straight points on his serve, including four aces, that put SHU in front 18-11.
Junior Craig Harvey (Beverly, MA) led the Pioneers in the second set, recording six kills without an error and six digs. Komlanc was also perfect on the attack in the frame with seven kills.
The Pioneers ran away with the third set 30-17 on the strength of five more kills from Komlanc and Parent.
Eric Barty led the Hawks in the match with ten kills and 14 digs.
