NEWARK, NJ - The Sacred Heart men's volleyball team fell at Rutgers-Newark Monday night, 3-0 (25-30, 25-30, 21-30), meaning they will need a win at Harvard on Friday night if they are to make the EIVA playoffs.

The Pioneers, now 16-10 overall and 4-3 in the EIVA Hay Division, struggled on attack all night. The team finished with 27 kills, but also made 27 errors on attack. Junior Roger Parent (Burlington, CT) was the only Pioneer to reach double digits in kills with 11. He also led the team with seven digs and four service aces.

Rutgers-Newark, 13-11 overall and a perfect 8-0 in EIVA play, was led by Austin Pappas with 11 kills, while Marcin Madura had ten.

The Pioneers will host the University New Haven in the final home match of the season on Wednesday night at 7 pm.
