SHU Wrestling Set to Host Coaches & Wrestler Clinic

FAIRFIELD, CT - Sacred Heart's new head wrestling coach Andy Lausier has announced that Sacred Heart University will be hosting a Coaches and Wrestlers Clinic on Sunday, Septebmer 23rd.  The event will be run in conjuction with USA Wrestling and be held from 10:00 am through 12 noon in the William H. Pitt Center.

Two-time United States Olympic Wrestling Coach (1996, 2000) Greg Strobel and 2010 NCAA Division I Champion JP O'Connor are the featured clinicians for the event.  Strobel is a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.  He was the head coach at Lehigh University from 1994 through 2008 where he led the Mountain Hawks to a 189-83-1 record.  

On the mat, Strobel was a two-time NCAA Champion (OW in 1973 NCAA's) and a three-time Pac-8 Champion during his time wrestling at Oregon State.  O'Connor posted a perfect 35-0 mark on his way to the 2010 champinship at Harvard University.  A three-time All-American, he is currently the assistant coach at his alma mater.  

USA Wrestling's Making A Difference Tournaments and Clinics are a one-day programthat seeks to make a difference one state at a time, by supporting and promoting local college wrestling programs in each state. Proceeds from this clinic will directly support the Pioneer wrestling program.
